International Cape Cutter 19 Week 2014

Mylor-venue-2

Mylor Yacht Harbour, with Mylor Creek to the rear.

The first International Cape Cutter 19 Week will be  held in Cornwall for Spring Bank Holiday, commencing on Saturday 24th May. Based at Mylor Yacht Harbour, we’ll be at the heart of the fabulous Carrick Roads, with easy sailing access to Falmouth, St Mawes, Restronguet, Malpass and Truro. These sailing waters are some of the best protected in the UK, and, being Cornwall, there is plenty to do both on and off the water.

Mylor is just less than 100 miles west of Exeter, most of which is on dual carriageways. We’ve block booked a section of the visitor pontoon at Mylor Yacht Harbour, where the facilities are of ‘five star’ quality. There are two good launch ramps, and it’s possible to get lifted in if you prefer. The harbour is well protected from anything other than a stiff easterly, and it really is a special place with a small boat. Our friends with Cornish Shrimpers regularly visit this area.

The draft program has now been announced:

Saturday 24th – Arrivals. Free sailing.

Sunday 25th – Late arrivals. Free sailing / exploring. Class dinner at Castaways, in the company of Mike Brooke, Class President.

Monday 26th – St Mawes or Falmouth raft-up. Mike Brooke talk at Mylor Yacht Club at 19:00 – 20:30.

Tuesday 27th – Gull Island, or Helford, and return.

Wednesday 28th – Truro, followed by pontoon BBQ on the Fal. Night away from MYH if it takes your fancy.

Thursday 29th – Free day. Option of low key race in the evening with Mylor Yacht Club Simply Sailing scheme. MYC bar.

Friday 30th – Helford, or Gull Island, and return. Option of MYC racing against the Shrimpers.

Saturday 31st – Free. Head off home, or stay a little longer.

If you don’t want to live afloat there are many places to rent for the week. Mylor Yacht Harbour has some superb apartments, from four to eight beds. If you wish to stay on land we would recommend that you start looking for somewhere pretty soon.
