Sculling

I think this deserves a new thread.

Here is a video clip to show it is possible to scull a Cape Cutter. It is only appropriate in still conditions but could be fun. I am researching a better sculling oar. Plenty of information on French sites sculling = godille. https://youtu.be/VOZ-fDYAm5s

I felt tired just looking at the video.
I always kept a very long lifeboat oar on my Hustler for an emergency rudder but never sculled with it.

It was hard work but will be easier with a properly designed oar. Our local friendly boat builder is making me one to this design. 3.6 meters in length should be suitable for the CC. It probably won't get a lot of use, but around the anchorages and our home harbour it should. A worthwhile investment of €150 I think. http://www.vivierboats.com/en/sculling-oars-drawings/
