OGA 55 event - Solent Aug 2018

Post by erbster »

The OGA is 55 years old next year and is organising two connected regattas next August for the week from Sat 11th Aug to Sun 19th Aug. It is based on the Isle of Wight- the first part of the week is for trailer sailers and the second half of the week is for gaffers of all sizes. Though many details are yet to finalised, I know from experience that this is likely to be great fun, an opportunity to cruise in company and to visit some interesting places with local guidance. I am planning to attend with my family and was wondering if any other owners would be interested in attending- it would be lovely to get a little fleet together for this event. I can help with launching etc if needed.

Hello Charles

This sounds like fun. I’m certainly interested in principle, though availability will depend on family holiday dates. I will let you know, via this thread, when my diary is clearer.

All the best

That’s good Malcolm. It’d be good to have a fleet! (Even if it’s only two - anyone else ... ?)

As the Scottish rally will take out a chunk of the season I'm planning to keep my boat in Poole for most of the season so I'd be interested in attending this.

Charles, do you have to be an OGA member to take part in these events. Are you a member of the Solent area. I see it doesn't cost a lot to join.

Hi Paul, happy new year! Yes I am a Solent oga member. I think you
Have to be a member to participate, but it’s not expensive as you say.
