VHF areal deck connectors

Hi all,

When I collected 'Nemo', the vhf areal cable had simply been cut at the bottom of the mast.
I assume the previous owner had the system installed when simply lowering the mast on the hinge.
When transported with the mast on the deck the easy solution would have been to simple cut the cable.

What systems do members have to connect/disconnect the cable?
Dennis,...did you say you had a deck mounted socket/plug?

I have spent a bit of time on't net, but not found anything suitable really.

I use an in-line waterproof VHF plug and socket. It is manufactured by Bulgin and is from their Buccaneer range. They do however also produce a deck mounting version.

I opted for the in-line version so that I did not have to drill a hole in the cabin top/deck. My aerial cable is simply routed out of the cabin through one of the drain holes at the side of the companionway garage.

These fittings are widely available from chandlers, although I bought mine (on line) from a specialist electronic component supplier called Farnell.

The Bulgin Buccaneer range of connectors are widely used on boats, Indeed I noticed that your tiller pilot used a Buccaneer plug/socket.
