I certainly agree that lighting in addition to the trailer board is much desirable.

Re: Collapsed suspension?
I think when I looked additional lighting is required for a trailer the size of ours except that it is a boat launching trailer and therefore has an exemption. I'll have to see if I can find a reference.
Found it, Table 6 at http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989 ... ule/1/made

Re: Collapsed suspension?
Cheers Alistair!
So side lights are desirable but not mandatory. I think I’ll look for some LED battery lights to attach to the boat.

Re: Collapsed suspension?
Hello Julian,
as requested by Dennis I did reply to his e mail Hope you got the copy but in case you didn't here it is again. You seem to have had plenty of advice anyway.
ello Julian,08/08/19
Dennis sent me a copy of your query re suspension arm.
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I haven't seen the pictures so I am a little in the dark as to your perceived problem.
When I look at my suspension arm, bearing in mind that my boat is on the trailer at the moment there would be a fingers clearance between the brake gear and the suspension arm.I stuck my finger in but it was bit dark,
My suspension arm would appear to be going just below the horizontal.
I hope this is helpful but what caused your worry, noise, grating, brakes?
You could consider changing the axle.Honnor marine[old have supplied an axle to one of the Irish boats.
I thought about it but don't travel as I have sold my tow vehicle
let me know if I can offer my assistance[warm words]
best wishes

Re: Collapsed suspension?
Malcolm,
I have just sent you a PM.
Any one else replaced the axle when up dating the SA trailer.
I am looking for advice on size of axle and hints as to whether one just unbolts the old one and bolts on the new one?
Did Julian replaced the axle?
