Deck hatch insect net

Hi, folks.
Thinking about summer , which still seems an awfully long way off, does anyone know where I can get hold of one of the mesh screens that fits to the underside of the fore hatch?
I believe it's a Lewmar hatch on my SA boat and it has a couple of hinged clips on the rear edge and turnbuckles around the rest of the frame, obviously designed to hold in a screen that can be dropped down to get at the handles.
I've googled but come up with nothing so far.
I reckon it will be an essential bit of kit up at Kielder Water when the evening midges appear.

Mmm. Found a few more hits with 'flyscreen' but they still seem to be a full kit including the surround. I'll make a few phone calls I think.

Just to confirm it is definitely a Lewmar hatch. It should be available from Lewmar.

That reminds me- some where I still have mine in its box.

Ill have root about at the weekend to see whether I can find the box its in for ref.

I had a word with Bob at HM yesterday - Lewmars customer service and the difficulty of getting spares means that Lewmars are no longer fitted to CCs. The mesh isn't generally available seperately it would appear but only with the complete kit at 95 quid or so.
Good news is that Bob may be able to help me out I'll let you know.

I think its a Low Medium Profile Hatch - Size 10

Drgs on their web site- no optional fly screen, although they have them for other hatches. May be worth a call.....

We're off to the land of Viking midges (Baltic) this summer, so I was thinking of getting a mosquito net and putting that on deck over the (open) hatch weighted down by (say) fishing weights. Similar needed for main hatch too, I think.

I made up a very simple screen for the companionway. Mozzie net stapled to piece of baton that sits above the opening retained by the external wood trims. The sliding hatch holds it secure. At the bottom of the opening another baton stapled to the netting fits between the wooden trims. It all rolls away neatly when not in use... very simple and effective.

I bought an insect net intended for use on a house window.

It consists of a simple piece of fine netting and a roll of self adhesive (Velcro style) pads (the hook bit).

I applied two pads either side of the companion way top (Forward and aft, port and starboard).

The net simply attaches to these and drapes down over the washboards (net curtains )

The fine mesh of the net clings to the hook part of the (velcro) pads and is easily removed and replaced as required.

Must admit, I'd not considered the companionway - I suppose on warm nights (remember those?) it may need to left open. I shall investigate the options forthwith.
