swim ladder
Hi,
Although we have used our home made pilot ladder very successfully for boarding Kaliope for several years, I have at last bowed to demand from several friends and orderered a boarding ladder from Honnor Marine which I shall fit at home over the winter. Bob at HM has given me hints on successful fitting. If anyone has such a ladder fitted by the factory could they post a couple of pictures to show the location exactly. Fitting it on the starb'd side of the transom, it needs to be high up top right, but with sufficient space for the backing plate to fit inside of transom. A picture or two will be helpful.
Cheers
Chris

Hi
I spoke to Bob at HM at the time of ordering. He said the transom requires no additional strengthening to retro fit the HM ladder. Care needs to be taken to ensure it is fitted sufficiently outboard to clear the rudder on full helm BUT to ensure there is sufficient space for the S/S backing plate to sit flat on the inner face of the transom.
He further advised when holes are drilled to apply plenty of sikaflex into the drilled holes, until it oozes out, so that if you have drilled where there is any small void it will be filled. Then apply the bolts, only loosely tighten them. After 24 hours fully tighten... That was the advice and now I have seen the pictures, it all is quite clear to me.
