Unofficial CC19 Solent Week - end March

Post by Ru88ell »

Zephyr had a relaunch date: Wednesday 23rd March, Buckler's Hard, Beaulieu River, around lunchtime.

I'm planning on sailing in circles to take in Cowes, Hamble, etc, until Tuesday 30th. Marinas still on winter price list - £1.50/m. Can't grumble at £9 per night. Launch/recover is £13.50 total, and includes parking for car and trailer.

Will anyone be around there that weekend to join in?

Hello Russell

Sound like a great start to the season, good value too.

I am very tempted, but a 760 mile round trip dictates that I will give it a miss. I will be launching at Kielder probably during that week instead.

Cheers

Dennis

Are there any south coast / Solent members who could help me to rig and launch please? I'm always happy to learn from the experts.

Zephyr is all ready to go off to The Solent tomorrow morining (24th).

The plan is pretty much as the OP, but I have a guy called Paul with me tomorrow and Friday, Monday and Tuesday. He's a Yachtmaster Coastal and will be giving me a refresher course. My none sailing wife will join me on Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon.

The weather looks favourable. I'll do some filming, and will be Tweeting and blogging as I go:-

There are various logs on http://www.yachtzephyr.wordpress.com, and I've put together a 5 minute video (not very well I hasten to add!)

Hello Russell

You looked like you enjoyed yourself. I certainly enjoyed your video.
The weather seems to have been kind to you, I remember when I first launched Mary Ann, it was blowing a F6/7.:(

Happy days!

Just seen your video Russell, most enjoyable but the crowds.I often wonder how boats can sail up the rivers in England with the amount of moorings.Lovely boats though.
