We have been very successful in the Round the Island Race recently using a particular PY but....
One design, manufacturers' and development classes have rules on rig measurement.
By moving from the original rig design, we are in danger of being out of class for racing.
We may not have black bands on our masts and booms but when we go to race, race
committees will expect us to conform with the the designer / manufacturer's specifications.
Pedant moi?
Regards
David
PS I don't race with my gennacker

Hi David
[quote="PS I don't race with my gennacker[/QUOTE"]
Good. I quite agree with this
- I think that MB should not fly a gennacker in the RTI race as it is unfair to other CC owners.
However, the same could be said of having a furler on the staysail- as this is not standard.
I do not race in serious races- but that does not mean I want to get the best out of my boat and use my sprayhood under full sail!
Regards
Simon

Good early morning Simon
My observation and your reply does raise the question
of the validity of PY's used when racing against other Classes
with established PY's. Do the RYA accommodate this?
By the way, Ullswater Yacht Cub's Lord Birkett Trophy is being sailed
over July 2 and 3. This is always a good party with in excess of 200 craft!
Ref Y&Y last year.
Best wishes
David
PS I prefer to be an Agent Provocateur; all fur coat and designer knickers; rather than a Devil's Advocate!

Good evening Frank
I will measure and give you luff / foot / leach measurements
over the next few days.
I do not have details such as max depth cord measurements.
My sail is based Mike Brooke's original sail with adjustments in
the foot.
It's nice to have something to do offwind at to 12 knots!
Being naughty, there is a gennaker photo in our montage and
I photographed mine on bair poles in the Association photograph section.
Yours in South African wine
