The 2020 Cape Cutter Rally will again be held over the late May bank holiday week, from Saturday 23rd May to Sunday 31st May. We’re returning to the South Coast, after 3 years away and will combine our cruising week with the opportunity to join the OGA rally in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, for the final weekend (28th to 31st May).
Nothing’s been finalised yet, but the aim will be to cater for sailors of all levels of experience. The rally will offer plenty of variety and safe but interesting sailing in company. In outline, we hope to start on the beautiful river Frome near Wareham and sail a circular route, taking in Poole Harbour, Studland beach and the western Solent visiting Lymington, Beaulieu (Buckler’s Hard), River Hamble, Cowes and the river Medina and at the end of the week sailing to Yarmouth, to join the OGA rally for a couple of days, before returning to Wareham on the Sunday. The Round the Island Race is also taking place on Saturday 30th May, so there’s an opportunity to witness this iconic event at close quarters.
It would be good to have at least a dozen boats, so can you please let me know if you’re interested in joining us for the week and whether or not you think you’d be able to stay for the OGA rally. Sailing back to Wareham on the Sunday to haul out probably means not being able to set off for home until Monday morning, unless you don’t mind setting off very late on the Sunday. As usual, there will be lots of help available for rigging and de-rigging your boat.
