I'm writing this on a mooring in St Mawes. I left Falmouth aiming for Fowey, with Mevagissey as a bail out option. However, the breeze never materialised, so I turned tail and came back. The breeze kicked in half way back.
Nevertheless, it gave me chance to get the steak on the Cobb, and then to use my Avon 7 to make a trip to shore.
A fabulous day today, bimbling around St Mawes, the Percuil river and the Molunan beaches. It was very hot, clear blue skies but some sea fog. I saw Brian Willis's CC19 too. Loads of pictures in my blog.
Very hot today, but with strong easterlies. Nicky didn't want to venture far, so we motored down from Pontsharden to Falmouth and spent the day anchored near the National Maritime Museum. We had a great afternoon people and boat watching.
I'm just back from packing Zephyr ready for the haul home tomorrow.
Good sailing today. Weather dull and cloudy though, but stayed dry.
F4 easterly, the best direction for sailing on Kielder Water.
Good run all the way down lake using staysail and mainsail (one reef) only. 5+ kts virtually all the way with a max of 7.0 kts.
Beat back down lake (still staysail + reefed mainsail), only seven tacks needed from end to end. Two entertaining beam reaches north and south across lake. Great fun.
Hello all, Heather and I had Cape Cutter 'Ladybird' delivered on Monday.
We were taken out by Rob at Falmouth School of Sailing on Wednesday and Friday. This is our first keel boat and we are very impressed.
Fridays sail-
Motored from our berth in Penryn, set sails before the docks and made our way up to Mylor for lunch in very light winds. Spent the afternoon sailing in the Carrick roads before sailing back to Penryn. Almost made it all the way up the river between the moorings. Had to put the engine on for the last few minutes.
Full main, stay and Yankee all day.
We are very happy with our Cape Cutter...

Full sunshine and light breezes. First time out on our own.
Around Black rock a couple of times then started across the bay towards the Helford.
Half way over we dropped the main to grease the gaff jaw leather. Raised it again and managed the sheer the rivet of the deck halyard block. Oh dam...
Checked at the Boathouse for new blocks but no luck. After reading some posts here I now realise I will have to modify the mounting plate and fit a new double barton block.
Just fitted a Cooker mate spirit stove so at least we could brew up.
Still had a great day out.
HM anchor and roller will be fitted tomorrow.
Beat all the way up lake into wind with friends in Pippin 20 following.
10 tacks 6.6 Nm
Double reefed mainsail plus staysail (and sprayhood up). Boat coped well with conditions (25 kt wind).
Wind dropped to zero over the last 0.5 nm.
Pick up mooring buoy at Bakethin as darkness descends. Pippin arrives 30 mins later and rafts up to Mary Ann.
