Hello Dennis

I put some pictures of the furler of Zimp's staysail, a Friesland proven design.

The furler is from Barton.

Regards,

Bert

Hello Bert

Thanks for the pics, most helpful. :)

I also like your leather cladding on the bowsprit.

Also a public thankyou for all the info you provided on Friesland. Foekema's at Heeg were very friendly and helpful, I will launch there again. I have produced a log/diary of the holiday, it will be posted when Simon/Russell get the new website up and running.
Cheers

Dennis

Hello again Bert

Thanks for the latest pictures.

Which size Barton furler have you used? Is it the 95mm or the 76mm dia?

I also like the top swivel with the built in "stand off" for the forestay, who manufactures that?

My U bolt is much closer to the forestay than yours, I will have to move it further aft:(

PS What is the ducks name? ;)
Cheers

Hello Dennis,

I used the following parts:

- Rostan furler swivel with guard (P/N RF1247)
- Barton 95mm furling drum (P/N 42 335)

We are still looking for a name for the duck, do you have any suggestions?
(Ideas so far: Mr.Quacksworth, Captain Archibald Haddock, Captain Pugwash, Lieutenant Scratchwood…)

Regards,

Bert

Staysail

Post by x-man12345 »

Question for all you who have changed your staysail from Hank-on to furling.
Did you use the same sail?
Does it need a different luff wire?
Is it a case of removing the hanks and stitching on a cover strip?
I am at sea at the moment and cannot think for the life of me what the luff looks like.
Thanks
