That's a lot of balls.
Sorry beads! But as size matters perhaps you could go and find out what size and how many?

Hello David
I plan to use the same size beads (balls) as supplied by HM for the gaff jaws. I have a few spare and intend to experiment to find the minimum that will do the job. I dont want to make a balls up of the job:D
Cheers

David,ref your questions re boomvangs./struts
I noticed that in the latest catalogue from Force 4 Chandlery p 114 that Barton have taken up the American idea I mentioned earlier/
Jack
its seems a bit flimsy for our boom/sail?

Thank you for the reference.
I talked with Barton who were involved in fitting out Mike Brooke's Cutter.
They came across the same problem as me: not enough space between the boom and the coach roof.
I'm sticking to the original kit. It just looks as if there is more compression than leverage on the boom.
I'll find out when I get on the water.

Dear All

Hello Graham
I have (made) 40 beads, to be fitted in five sets of eight. I may not need all of these, and may get away with 30 (five sets of six).
I will be rigging the boat next week and will report back when I have experimented.
Cheers

Hello Graham
I have finally fitted Parrel beads.
I opted for 5 strings of 7 beads.
I have loop on one end which I push through the eyelet in the mainsail luff and a plastic hook at the other end which fastens to the loop.
I have posted two photos in the " Mary Ann Modifications" album.
Hope this helps
Cheers
