Fenders

Any thoughts on the best type of fenders for the boat? Given that the lockers are small and the fuel tank and lines take up most of one, what sort of fenders do people use, and where do you store them?

I have a flock of small sausage ones (came with boat) which do fill up the locker. I keep about 4 in the cockpit and the rest below, so handy if needed. However, now I am thinking of using two large round fenders, which could be tied off onto the main sheet fittings and hang inside the transom (I now have a two part wooden wash board, so will not need to put the washboard behind the outboard any more).

This would have the twin benefits of being better at fending off and also freeing up the locker for wetsuits and all the other soggy stuff which family sailing seems to involve......

+1 to what Charles said. I started tying the fenders so they hung inside the transom behind the engine.

With regard to lines, I had some standard ones, which I think were 12mm, and they are too big for the cleats and took up space. I bought some 8mm instead, and it effectively doubled the space in the locker. 8mm is more than man enough to hold a CC19 - and it has the benefit that you can actually use the cleats as intended.
