Wheel clamps and hitch locks

Postby Greybeard » Sun Oct 13, 2013 4:19 pm

I'm hoping that in the next week or two Falcon will be safely moored on the driveway once Bob and his team have finished giving her a gentle coat of 'looking at'.
I would imagine that the prospect of a CC being taken is pretty slim, there being so few around - I'd guess that a prospective buyer would soon hear about a 'stray one' being on the loose. However, as insurance companies like that sort of thing, are there any views on the better quality wheel clamps and hitch locks available?
I've been looking at the Bulldog Titan range of clamps but am open to other suggestions.
Thanks. Steve

My old CC19, Zephyr, was taken from a previous owners' driveway. She was back in a few days though. It's hard to hide/dispose of something quite so rare, especially when it was the only white one in the country.

Bulldog has a good reputation. I never had a wheel lock, I relied on the Indespension hitch lock. Just make sure you don't leave the sails on her, and if you can remove the spars that's even better.

Hello Steve

I use a Bulldog Titan, It is one I previously used on a caravan.

I have no complaints, it is big, strong and highly visible.

Just make sure that you get the correct size for the tyres on your trailer.
Cheers

Thanks, chaps. I'm hoping that Falcon will make landfall this weekend having had a phone call from Bob earlier today :)
I'd best get shopping!

I'd second the vote for the titan bulldog.

I am hoping the one off my old rib thats sitting in my garden shed is serviceable, so should fit when my boat is finished.
