South Coast Cruise. Chichester to Exeter

Some info from a 10 day cruise along the south coast inspired by the Cape Cutter Week 2016.
Emsworth Yacht Harbour in Chichester Harbour- £37 for a tractor launch including trailer storage and car parking for 10 days.
Itchenor town pontoon.. The harbour master goes home at 6pm and no one seems to mind if you moor on the pontoon overnight after that. Toilets and a good pub close at hand.
Beaulieu River great anchorages just inside the river but they will charge for a short stay £7.
Newtown River lovely backwater. Turn to port after entering and moor at the far end of the lake. Peaceful.
Yarmouth Harbour is so busy it has harbour master ribs meeting you at the entrance to guide you to a berth. Short stay £7.
Keyhaven behind Hurst Castle inside the river. Lovely anchorage for swimming, views of The Needles and waiting for a tide out of The Solent.
Weymouth Marina. Views of TK Maxx and Cineworld but a good place to resupply and plan for the time to round Portland Bill. The town bridge opens on the even o'clock from 8am to 8 pm to give access to the marina and you need to factor this in to leaving for PB.
West Bay. Good point to aim for after Portland Bill. Very helpful harbour staff will come and take your lines. Shower in HM office and then public toilets! £20 per night for any boat. Not a good anchorage in easterlies.
Beer. Anchoring behind Beer Head gives access from dinghy to beach and town. Last spot to wait if waiting for tides into River Exe.
Very fast flood tide into Exe. You need to be alert to buoy spotting to follow the channel, especially as far as the dog leg turn opposite Exemouth Marina.
Topsham (Exeter). Trout boat yard have pontoons and will crane out. There is only one slipway on the Exe apparently. It's in Exemouth and only good at Springs. Very helpful at Trouts. £60 for a nights mooring, haul out and taking boat through narrow streets to car park for towing away.
Good weather and kind winds plus a 2 day stopover at the Purbeck Valley Folk festival (August Bank Holiday Weekend) made this a pleasant and memorable cruise.
