CC19 Rally 2021

Postby erbster » Tue Dec 29, 2020 12:30 pm

Well, we have clawed our way to the end of 2020. Our planned rally in May did not take place, but the good news is that Paul Turner, who planned it all, will co-ordinate a very Similar itinerary for 2021. The plan is for our usual slot of Whitsun Bank Holiday week - Saturday May 29th to Saturday June 5th 2021, beginning in Poole harbour and sailing to the Solent. Keep those dates clear and more details will follow...

Charles, I plan on being there. Presumably thanks are due to Paul for a third time of organising. Tony

I'm very happy to organise. It gives me an excuse to do some armchair sailing. I'm reasonably hopeful that by the end of May we'll be able to have the rally that we planned for 2020. The OGA are again planning to do their Yarmouth rally during the second weekend so the plan at this stage is to do the same as we were going to do last time: couple of days in Poole Harbour, a sail to the Solent visiting the main West Solent highlights and ending up in Yarmouth for the OGA rally before returning to Poole on the Sunday. Obviously there's still a lot of uncertainties but if you can let me know who's interested I can make some inititial contacts in the New Year.

Thank you Paul. i am hoping/expecting that the vaccine rollout will mean restrictions will be lifted by May. I believe we must proceed cautiously but with optimism.

I encourage anyone interested to post here and then perhaps we can set up a WhatsApp group as you did last year.

Hello Charles and Paul
Thank you for organising this event.
It's very early in my CC19 career and I'm still waiting for an opportunity to set-up for sailing and be ready to go for the 2021 Solent Rally. However, let's be optimistic so please add my name and Sea Badger II to the list.
Thanks again
Phil

You will find the rally very useful in learning how to rig the boat. There’s always lots of help to hand.

I’m definitely in. Well, as definitely as possible in these times.

And my thanks too to Paul for doing that donkey work. I hope the contacts and templates from last time will mean it is less work now.

All the best

Thanks, Malcolm. It's not hard work. Of course I can't go and visit anywhere and will have to do everything by phone / online and there may be some reluctance to accept bookings. People will get more confident in taking bookings if the vaccine numbers start increasing in line with government targets. I don't think many of us are in the top 4 risk groups but if they are done by mid Feb then a lot of others will be done by end of March. I'm hoping to have Sapphire in the water by mid April. I prefer to be optimistic despite everything.
