Hi,
alike Dennis story, the blistering in Black Sheep occurred in the Coppercoat after 2 months. Then, I preferred to have the boat re-coppercoated by a professional yacht painter doing coppercoating all the time. Now, 9 seasons on fresh water later, still no blisters in the copper coat (and no fouling of course).

Hi Michel, interesting to hear your story. Did your painter simply sand the blisters down, or did he peel the gelcoat off? Also did he leave the boat to dry out after sanding? As I stated previously, I am trying to decide how to deal with my boat here in Switzerland.
Best regards, Peter.

Hi Peter,
he entirely removed the poor copper coat and started over from the black gelcoat, applied thorough cleaning and an intermediate layer followed by 4 layers of copper coat.

Hi Michel, many thanks for your answer. I’m thinking I’ll probably do the same but use epoxy barrier paint with standard antifouling on top. Best regards, Peter.

I did my annual polish today and noticed blistering and "rippling" of the gel coat on the starboard side above the waterline and some on the copper coat. Freshwater use since I purchased 4 years ago and previously freshwater use I believe. I'll keep an eye on it this season and see how it progresses.

Sounds like your boat needs a dip in the sea ;)
