GPS for DSC

Has anyone set up a GPS receiver to feed into the port on the radio to allow DSC to broadcast position when in distress?

I did. I have an elderly (but reliable) Garmin GPS76. The data feed is connected to both my DSC radio and a NASA repeater in the cockpit. Works really well for me. To make it work, I bought a mounting bracket and a proprietary cable, which supplies power and gives a data signal cable. The only thing I needed to do was set the data output correctly on the GPS unit.
