What is the best way to mount a VHF aerial I don’t want it to fowl the windex and I didn’t really want to buy a combined windex and aerial as it is bound to get broken when the mast is down.

It depends on what your aerial and windex are like. I have both at the masthead. My aerial is a stubby type, so it’s too is lower than the moving parts of the windex.

Thanks for that. I copied your suggestion. Now to fit the radio in the cabin. Do you have a recommendation where to fit it? Is it useful to be able to use it from the cockpit as well as below decks.

Hmm, tricky. Many have I “down below”, which is neater in a way and not open to the elements. I chose to fit mine in the cockpit so that I could use it when sailing single handed.

I have an instrument panel fixed to the stbd interior bulkhead, so I have all my instruments through that side. I did have to take a deep breath before making another hole in my boat...
