I bought self-adhesive non-slip deck tape because it was thick and sticky!!! It has framed the window now for many seasons covering the black goo. It looks fine (cream colour) and does a good job, even with full Greek sun exposure all summer.

(from Force 4)

Cheers

Thankyou all for your responses

I think some sort of tape is my favoured solution - there are no leaks so it seems wanton to take it off just to rebed it with non-marking sealant

I’ll head for Force 4

Thanks again

Malcolm

I've been getting a lot of water inside the boat. A leaky fixed skylight in the companionway was part of the problem, but when sitting below during a deluge late in the season I found that there was also a lot of water coming in around my forehatch and dropping from the bolts securing the tabernacle. So I've reseated the perspex window in the main hatch, and the forehatch and the tabernacle in Sikaflex 295. Maybe I overdid it with the Sikaflex on the tabernacle ...
